Mazatlán is located on Mexico’s Pacific Coast at the foot of the Sierra Madre Mountains. As Mexico’s second largest coastal city, Mazatlán has nearly 600,000 inhabitants. The city is divided into two main areas: Old Mazatlán and Zona Dorada or Golden Zone, with a seven-mile coastal road between the two. Mazatlán has an international sport-fishing reputation. Sites of interest include: the Angela Peralta Theater, Archeological Museum, Republic Plaza, Ocean Museum, Mazatlan Aquarium, Botanic Garden, San Jose Chapel and the world’s second-tallest lighthouse.  With its sun-blessed golden shores, rich culture and legendary hospitality, is gearing up to celebrate the advent of spring with an array of events sure to entice elite travelers to Mexico’s Pacific coast. January

Mazatlan Bird Festival  - The Mazatlan Bird Festival is held at the end of January every year and features tours, workshops, and conferences dedicated to protecting the hundreds of species of birds in Mazatlan.




March

Tom Garcia  Golf Tournament -  One of Mazatlan's most famous golf tournaments is the Tom Garcia tournament, which takes place at the El Cid resort in March.


March - April

International Motorcycle Week - Mazatlan, Sinaloa, March  to April  -  Over 20,000 bikers from across the United States and Mexico converge in Mazatlán for this annual event. The magnum event is the Great Parade, a colorful procession of international motorcycle clubs cruising sixteen miles along Mazatlán’s oceanfront malecón promenade. Other events include an extreme acrobatics competition, drag racing events, and nightly concerts and performances by national rock bands.

Spring Cultural Festival - March to July The Spring Cultural Festival, is organized by the Mazatlan Institute of Culture, Tourism and Art.

Mazatlán International Bike Week - Five days of high-octane fun and adventure along Mexico’s golden Pacific Coast, with more than 15,000 bikers and enthusiasts in attendance for bike parades, stunt exhibitions, drag races, custom bike competitions, accessories and apparel expos, as well as live music, entertainment, local restaurant sponsors, free contests and giveaways.


Jose Limón Dance Festival - The 135-year-old Angela Peralta Theater hosts one of the year’s most anticipated performing arts events honoring the legacy of pioneering Sinaloa dancer and choreographer, Jose Limón. Showcasing artists and dancers from around the world, the festival also features expositions, literary presentations and the Summit of Academies—a nationwide assembly of dancers.

Considered one of the most important golf events in the world, the Canadian Tour will make its first stop in Mexico in Mazatlan and receive 156 players from 15 different countries. The purse this year is $125,000. www.cmcgolf.com


Mexican PGA Championship -Estrella Del Mar Golf Club hosts this prestigious tournament of the Canadian Professional Golf Tour, drawing hundreds of the world’s top golfers in pursuit of this year’s title from defending champion Andy Matthews alongside a $125,000 USD purse.


Expo Canacintra offers a fun-filled expo experience with delicious food booths and displays, even a corn oil queen!

Mazatlan Pacific Triathlon -  Years of Tradition The Mazatlan Pacific Triathlon is establishing itself as one of the most spectacular sporting events in Latin America.
Music Day Festival - The Historical Center's current events include the sucessful Music Day project, where more than 200 artists converge on the same day.


Marina Mazatlán Fishing Tournament - Known for being a first-class fishing destination, Mazatlán lures top anglers from around the world for the premier Marina Mazatlán tournament. Complete with festive dinner receptions, onshore events and an official awards ceremony.


Quiksilver Surf Clásico Mazatlán -Five days of epic surf, fashion and live music will draw surfers from around the globe to hang ten on Mazatlán’s renowned breaks, vying for an $85,000 purse. Festivities include surf gear expos and fashion shows, plus local art exhibits and live concerts.

Fiesta Amigos de Mazatlán - This four-day “Big Festival of Friends” celebrates the destination’s continued growth, rich culture and fabulous cuisine. Presented by the City of Mazatlán, the Mazatlán Hotel Association and the State of Sinaloa, Gran Fiesta Amigos extends a warm greeting to travel partners in recognition of their ongoing support for this vibrant and thriving tourism hotspot on Mexico’s Pacific coast. Festivities include cultural performances, receptions, award dinner galas and tours showcasing the city’s modern resorts and rich cultural heritage.


Marina El Cid Billfish Classic - Widely referred to as the “Billfish Capital of the World,” Mazatlán is home to the annual Billfish Classic sponsored by El Cid Resorts. This tournament combines world-class billfishing with the destination’s warm hospitality. Anglers are encouraged to release their catches and will accumulate points for every billfish they release to ensure the conservation of this species. Competitors are eligible for daily jackpots along with the grand cash prize.


Festival of Lights -  The Festival of Lights dresses Mazatlan´s boardwalk with an impressive array of fireworks, searchlights and laser beams that grab everyone´s attention.

Mazatlán Cultural Festival - This month-long festival celebrates the city’s rich heritage and historical roots with daily cultural events in Old Mazatlán. Performers travel to Mazatlán from China, Cuba, Japan, Korea, Mexico and the U.S. to stage a variety of theatrical productions. Locals and visitors enjoy festivities ranging from opera and rock concerts to ballet and drama performances, art exhibits and photography shows.


November - May

Mazatlan Artwalk - The Camino de Arte or Mazatlan Artwalk takes place the first Friday of the month from November to May. Stroll through Mazatlan's many art studios and galleries nightly from 4 to 8 pm.

Mazatlan Bike Tour - With the support of Mazatlán´s City Council, the Ministry of Tourism of the State of Sinaloa, the local hotel association, and more..


Pacífico Marathon - The world’s top athletes converge in Mazatlán to compete in this annual marathon, rated one of the top 10 in the world. Running conditions are ideal in this seaside destination, with picturesque scenery, ocean views and warm weather. Contestants compete in a weekend of races that include a 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon.


AXN Film Festival - This competitive festival showcases film entries from across Latin America. From the hundreds of short films submitted each year, only ten finalists will be selected to compete for top honors and prizes. Judges include renowned directors, actors and writers.
